LAS CRUCES — Mayor Ken Miyagishima will greet several high school students who are riding across the nation on their bikes in order to promote environmental awareness. The group, part of the "An Inconvenient Ride" national event, will stop in Las Cruces at 1 p.m. today at City Hall, 200 N. Church St.
The eight students, from Seattle, Wash., will stop in 65 cities across the country. An Inconvenient Ride is part of Project Earth Care, which promotes a partnership between schools, local government and neighborhoods to work on ways to better our environment.
The student's goal is to ride their bikes 5,400 miles across America, collecting signatures from governors, mayors and other students. For more information, go to www.inconvenientride.com.
