I swear, if I don’t get more than five hours of sleep tonight I am going to crack! I went to sleep really late because I had such high energy levels and I stayed up late watching TV. So this morning I woke up feeling really bad. However after a lovely shower and a delicious breakfast, my mood definitely changed for the better. After a few tosses of the football, we all headed out with me leading the way on a bike. My ride started off great. I felt like I was chugging along doing just fine, when all of a sudden the inclines started coming. Trust me, inclines are not that bad when you’re driving in a car, but on a bike they just plain suck. Also my nose started hurting so bad because of the altitude gain. And to top that off I got chased by a dog for the first time! Oh my god that was scary. After my ride was done I got to kick back and relax. It was really cool being able to get a good look at the scenery. I loved the rock formations and the red sand. Together they made a beautiful combination. Also, for some odd reason I kind of felt at peace even though I was in the middle of no where, and finally I dozed off to sleep. Okay, talk about bipolar weather! One minute, the weather was decently warm and the next it starts snowing! When I signed on to this trip I at least expected warm weather in New Mexico. Oh well. When we got to Harry’s Roadhouse, we honestly didn’t know what we were doing. This was a little un-nerving since we're the ones who are supposed to arrange these events. Since we weren’t sure what was going on we all headed into the restaurant. As we walked in, we were greeted by several people and were led to a room where everyone was waiting. Everyone was so nice and after greetings we all ordered food. Then several people spoke about what the city of Santa Fe was doing to be environmentally friendly. My favorite idea was that kids in the city were allowed to ride the bus for free. After everyone was done eating, we all headed out for our bike ride to the river. This is when the snow started. It was so cold and everyone’s hand started to freeze. I lucked out and thankfully didn’t get cold hands. However the snow was flying against us so several snowflakes hit me in the eye. Karma. When we got to the river, everyone was freezing, so instead of having a meeting we took a quick photo and loaded up the bikes. Before we left we talked with some of the kids working with Youthworks. We got to talk to them about what kind of work they did and what is was like! They were all very nice and in turn asked us about our trips. After a few more words, we all parted and headed for the hotel. Now I’m here writing and it’s still snowing! Hopefully I will be able to get some shopping done! Talk to you later! |
