So I woke up at 8:00 and I am glad I did not wake with a mouse in my sleeping bag. We are going to do a 50-mile bike ride today from the hotel for the first leg. Ally, Justin and I are going to ride first and then Tyrone, Jacob and Tim will go second so they can interview some guy. We started out on this really bad road that had lots of pot holes and deep cracks that we had to go around all the time. We got to a point where we had to stop because the side road ended at a big lake and the only way across was a bridge. While we were stopped I called into Gatewood to talk with my school about my trip and give them an update on where we were. After I was finished my Dad and Drew came up with a plan to ride over the bridge with one of the cars escorting us to block the traffic. It worked great and we made it in about 5 minutes and we were on the right road. Later on a big truck came by me and the wind almost knocked me off my bike, but I didn't fall and kept going on the ride. I wanted to ride for the 50 miles but after 33 I was too tired and my back was real sore so they took me out. I went back to the car and did some homework and had some food and something to drink. Ally and Justin finished the 50 miles about 1 hour later and then my Dad took everyone for and ice cream for doing such a good job. Then we caught up with Tyrone, Jacob and Tim and they were almost done with their ride. At one point Tyrone was riding by some cows and they were staring at him and then they started chasing him like a pack of dogs.
Then we got to the place where we met the cycle club from Norman and they rode with us to the US Postal meeting site. There were even more riders there to ride with us and it was fun to ride with a big pack of people. We had a police escort again so we didn’t have to worry about traffic, that way I could talk to the riders while we were riding. We had the event at the University of Oklahoma’s Museum of Natural History, which was cool because they had a dinosaur exhibit. When we got there, there was a lady that had a porcupine from South America. Arielle and Ally did great job speaking for our group. They had a lot good food and stuff to drink for us, which was nice. After we were done they gave us a tour of the new exhibit, which will open later this year and then we went to hotel for the night.
