4-16-08 “Me and Ally”

I woke up today from my mom pushing me saying “Sydney it’s time to get up and do wake up calls.”  So I got up and went to everyone’s door.  They all answered the door with a sleepy look.   Its too nice of a hotel to have to get up so early. We got all our stuff out of the hotel and our bikes out and ready for the event in Visalia High School.  We all sat down in an auditorium with about 40 students.  We told them about the trip and answered their questions.  Then we went outside and planted a tree with the students, the mayor, and the contacts that arrange our meeting. When we got done Mr. Thomsen and my mom talked to us about how un-prepared the presentation was.  We forgot lots of stuff and didn’t really talk about why we were there. Afterwards, Gary (Mr. Thomsen, aka Thomas) asked me and Ally to do the speeches.  I was glad to present with Ally because we had an event in Salinas where we were going to talk in front of the mayor and the news.  Ally and I did a good job.  I forgot Art Wolfe’s name, so I started to think of other names, but I still did good.  Ally's talk was good too. Next we went to Pacific Grove for another presentation in front of 25 people and the city council.  We did better this time.  After we were done, the council bought us dinner at a great place called, Chili Great Chili.  It was really funny watching Tyrone eat.  He ate for a really long time and he and Mr. Thomsen were making everyone laugh. We are spending in the night in Santa Cruz at the Ocean Pacific Lodge.
