Today we flew to Newark, New Jersey from SeaTac airport in Seattle. I was kind of nervous this morning. All of a sudden the trip seems real and we're actually going to do it. After all the work we did at school I guess now its time to deliver and that makes me a little nervous as well. I'm wondering if we can actually pull it off. We met up at the airport around 1:00 pm and then proceeded to have our bags checked and go through security. There were a lot of hugs in the terminal and I think everybody was felling both a little sad yet happy. I was just nervous. We got some group photos in front of the Alaska ticket counter for the website since Alaska is sponsoring the flight. At least we're going on a good airline. The flight left at about 3:30 Pacific Time and arrived at approximately 8:15 PST, or 11:15 Eastern Time. Thomsen was supposed to meet us in Newark but they got caught up in the snow and thunderstorms that were messing up the midwest, so he had Jeff rent a car for us to drive down to DC. We got all our gear stored and then headed off for DC. The people in the terminal said it was a couple hour drive but we drove for 4 hours, and crossed 4 states, ending up in Washington D.C. at 4 in the morning. I hope the directions we get from now on are better than that. We went into the Econolodge for some sleep and a bed never felt so good. Too bad its going to be a short sleep. Well, at any rate, we made it and tomorrow (I guess today actually) the trip is going to start. |
