| 4-03-08 Jacobs on the way to the Tire Trophy |

We were able to sleep into 7:00 am today so I was happy to get another hour of sleep. Last night, I packed up my stuff and put it by the door so I did'nt have to clean my stuff up in the morning. I managed to wake up at 7:00am and I only got 5 ½ hours of sleep. I’m glad that I did not have to ride this morning because it started to rain really hard and Jeff had to be pulled off. It was raining so hard that we drove part way to Athens. In Athens, we got a police escort the last 7 miles to Chase Street Elementary School. The first thing that happened in the ride was that Ally blew past us after Jeff said to stay together. Group bike riding requires good team players just like soccer but today she wasn't a good team player. At the end of the ride, Jacob fell in front of the elementary school students. That brings the count up to 4 falls for Spokes. When he gets to 32 falls, I will give him a bike tire on a stand like a trophy. I really hope he doesn’t get too that number. We helped the students of Chase Street Elementary plant a tree and then we got treated to a great lunch. They are very nice people. Because of the rain and traffic we drove from Athens to Atlanta. It was all freeway so I don’t care. Tonight we get to stay in a Marriott Hotel which is very nice so we will all be able to get a good nights sleep. Except Paul. He's sick and they are going to take him to a clinic. I think he has a sinus infection. It looks like it's going to be raining and stormy tomorrow and that sucks because I want to ride a bike not a car. |
